I need to manage a user's POS PIN

Use this article as an Admin or Manager within Dutchie POS to assign new PINs, reset existing credentials, or clear old PINs for point of sale authentication.

What is the issue?

Users require a unique 4-digit numeric code to clock in, switch accounts on shared terminals, and authorize specific actions within the Dutchie POS. This guide addresses situations where a user has forgotten their PIN, needs a PIN for their first shift, or requires a PIN reset for security purposes.

What’s causing the issue?

The primary cause is typically a forgotten PIN or a new employee who has not yet been assigned a unique identifier for the terminal. PINs are location-specific and must be manually configured within the user management settings by an authorized admin.

How do I solve the issue?

Before starting, ensure you have the necessary administrative permissions to edit user profiles and verify the specific location for which the PIN is being managed.

  1. Log in to the Dutchie Admin panel.
  2. Navigate to Settings > User Management.
  3. Locate the specific user from the list and click on their name to open the user profile.
  4. Find the POS PIN section within the profile settings.
  5. Enter a new 4-digit numeric code in the Set PIN field, or select the option to Reset or Clear the existing PIN.
  6. Click Save.

After saving, the PIN is encrypted and will not be visible in the admin panel. The user can now use the new code to authenticate at the terminal.
