Why is the register asking for a manager PIN for every discount?

Use this article as a Dispensary Manager or System Administrator to troubleshoot Dutchie POS register prompts for a manager PIN when applying discounts, voiding items, or processing returns.

What is the issue?

When a budtender attempts to perform a restricted action on the register, such as applying a discount or overriding a price, a PIN prompt appears. This prevents the transaction from proceeding until a user with the appropriate permissions enters their credentials.

What’s causing the issue?

This is caused by the Manager PIN Requirements settings being enabled within the Dutchie Admin panel. These settings are used to ensure compliance and prevent loss by requiring high-level authorization for sensitive transactions.

How do I solve the issue?

Follow these steps to configure which actions require a manager PIN or to disable the prompt for specific tasks.

  1. Log in to the Dutchie Admin panel.
  2. Navigate to Settings > POS Settings.
  3. Select the Manager PIN Requirements tab (in some configurations, this is found under Settings > Roles & Permissions > Manager Overrides).
  4. Locate the specific action you wish to modify, such as Apply Discounts, Void Transaction, or Adjust Inventory.
  5. Toggle the requirement to enabled or disabled for each individual action type based on your shop's needs.
  6. Verify that users who need to authorize these actions have the Manager or Admin role, or a custom role with manager override permission.
  7. Click Save if prompted.
