On your busiest days — 4/20, Green Wednesday, and the holiday rush — the single most impactful thing you can do is get customers to preorder with Pay by Bank. It shortens lines, reduces wait times, takes pressure off your budtenders, and keeps cart totals climbing.
This guide walks you through building two targeted email campaigns: one to get loyalty members enrolled in Pay by Bank before the big day, and one to remind existing Pay by Bank users to place a preorder and check out fast.
Throughout this guide, Pay by Bank is referred to as PBB.
This guide uses Dutchie's Loyalty & Marketing platform for the step-by-step instructions, but the strategy works for any dispensary on any email tool. The customer segments, example templates, and downloadable images can all be adapted to whatever platform you're using — so don't let the specifics hold you back.
Step 1
Build your customer segments
You'll create two segments in Dutchie's Marketing & Loyalty. The first targets loyalty members who haven't enrolled in PBB yet — your goal is to get them signed up before the rush. The second targets loyalty members who already have PBB — your goal is to get them to place a preorder and check out fast.

- Name the segment and save
Segment B

Step 3
Build your email templates
Create one email template per segment. To get started, navigate to Marketing → Campaigns → Create Campaign → One-Time Blast, then select a blank template to begin building. Watch the walkthrough below for a live demonstration, then use the suggested copy and guidance to customize each template for your store.
Template 1 — Segment A
For customers without Pay by Bank
Your goal is to encourage these loyalty members to enroll in PBB ahead of the holiday so they can order ahead, earn their rewards, and check out fast.
4/20 is almost here — and we want to make sure your checkout is as fast and smooth as possible.
Sign up for Pay by Bank before the big day and link your bank account in minutes. Once you're set up, place your preorder on our website, select Pay by Bank at checkout, and your order will be ready when you arrive. No cash, no card, no delays at the register.
Pay by Bank benefits:
- Instant, secure bank payments
- Fast, easy setup — takes just 2 minutes
- Order ahead for pickup
- Quick, smooth checkout every time
Your loyalty points and deals still apply — you're just making checkout a whole lot faster.
See you on 4/20.
Template 2 — Segment B
For existing Pay by Bank users
Your goal is to remind these customers they're already set up — and nudge them to place a preorder for a faster, smoother checkout on the big day.
You've already got Pay by Bank set up — so on 4/20, checking out is the easy part.
Place a preorder before the big day and your order will be ready when you arrive. No fumbling with cash, no delays at the register. Just a fast, smooth checkout and you're on your way.
Why order ahead?
- Guaranteed product availability
- Instant payment confirmation
- Fast, seamless checkout with Pay by Bank
- Quick in-store pickup
Your loyalty points and deals still apply — nothing to give up, everything to gain.
See you on 4/20.
Tips: Ways to strengthen Template 2
- If your store has a mobile app, encourage customers to link their PBB profile in the app and place their preorder from there.
- For power users (loyalty + PBB + active on the app), consider adding a points boost or exclusive discount tied to PBB on the big day. See our Loyalty & Marketing articles to set this up.
- If your store uses a PBB Express lane, mention it — it's a strong incentive to preorder. Learn best practices for your Express lane.
Step 4
Review, test, and schedule
Before scheduling, do a final check on both templates.
- Confirm each template is assigned to the correct segment
- Check that all button, image, and logo links are working correctly
- Send a test email to yourself to preview the final layout (recommended)
- Schedule your one-time email blast
Timing tip: Send your emails in the days leading up to the holiday — not just on the day itself. Give customers time to enroll in PBB and place a preorder before the rush hits.
