Things to consider

• Pricing tiers can be used on weight-based or quantity-based products, though they're typically used for weight-based flower sold "deli-style". 
  • Quantity-based products will be added together based on their Grams/Concentration value (per-unit weight)
  • In Dutchie E-Commerce and some third-party integrations, tiered pricing logic is only supported for weight-based flower.
• Pricing tiers override any prices set at the Catalog or inventory level. If a price is not displaying as expected, there may be a pricing tier overriding it.

Create pricing tiers

To create a pricing tier:

1. Go to Products > Configure.
2. Select the Pricing Tiers tab.
3. Click the Add tier button. 
   
4. Enter a tier Name.
   
5. Tier options:
   • Only apply price breaks at specified weights: Customers will only get price breaks for weights that fall within a tier. For any other weights, the per-gram price set at the catalog level would apply.
   • Only group items with the same SKU for price breaks: Customers will only receive price breaks when purchasing multiples of the same SKU. For example, a 2g price would apply to 2 units of the same 1g prepack, but not two different 1g prepacks.
   • If you enable either of the above, you cannot assign this pricing tier to a group.
6.  Assign to group:
   • Group pricing tiers permit mix and match across pricing tiers. For example, if group pricing is enabled and a retail customer buys 1/2 oz of one tier, and 1/2 oz of another tier, they will get a prorated price reduction for both products since they still met the 1 oz. benchmark due to the group pricing tier being applied.
   • Create and view your groups by clicking the Tier groups button on the main Pricing Tiers page.
     

7. Assign to tags: Automatically assign products to this tier based on a tag or smart tag, and whether products must match any selected tag or all selected tags. 

   • When used with smart tags, this option allows you to set up dynamic, rules-based pricing. For example, configure smart tags with rules based on strain, brand, or potency and assign those tags to different tiers such as Silver/Gold/Platinum, or assign "Expiring Soon" packages to a "Value Tier” to sell through aging inventory.

   • Tag-based pricing tier assignments override product-level pricing in your Catalog.

   • Choose whether products must match all any selected tag or all selected tags to be auto-assigned to this tier.
   • Note that tag-based pricing tier assignments override product-level pricing in your Catalog.
     

8. Fill out the Price breaks table. Click + Add price break to enter your own custom weight thresholds or choose from commonly used presets at the bottom.
   
   Note: If your location uses out-the-door (tax-inclusive) pricing, enter the tax-inclusive price. Otherwise, enter the base price before taxes.

   Weight	The minimum weight in grams that a customer must purchase to get this tier's price.
   Max Weight	The weight at which this tier's price no longer applies (in other words, customers can purchase up to this weight, non-inclusive). If you have also set a Dispense weight vs actual weight threshold, the smaller of the two applies. For example: If the Weight is 3.5g, the Max Weight is 3.7g, and the Dispense weight vs actual weight threshold is 0.3g, then the Max Weight applies and this tier's price applies to weights of 3.5g to 3.699g. If the Weight is 3.5g, the Max Weight is 3.7g, and the Dispense weight vs actual weight threshold is 0.1g, then the Dispense weight vs actual weight threshold applies and this tier's price applies to weights of 3.5g to 3.599g. If you have not set a Dispense weight vs actual weight threshold for your location, the Max Weight always applies.
   Per Gram	Price per gram for this tier. If you enter a value here, the Total is automatically calculated based on Per gram x Weight. If you have dual pricing enabled, there are separate fields for Medical and Recreational prices.
   Total	Total price for this tier. If you enter a value here, the Per gram is automatically calculated based on Total ÷ Weight. If you have dual pricing enabled, there are separate fields for Medical and Recreational prices.

9. Click Done.

Assign products to a pricing tier

In addition to tag-based tier assignments discussed above, you can manually assign products to pricing tiers. Under Products > Catalog, use the checkboxes to select products that you want to assign to a pricing tier, then click Bulk actions > Bulk edit product details.

Select Field: Pricing tier and then choose your desired pricing tier from the dropdown. Click Save.

Or assign an individual product to a pricing tier by opening its detail page from the Catalog and selecting a Default pricing tier.

Archive a pricing tier

To discontinue a pricing tier, select it from the list and click Archive tier, or use the checkboxes to select multiple tiers and then Archive selected.

If the tier has products assigned to it, you'll be prompted to either remove the tier assignment from those products or reassign them to another tier.

To restore an archived tier, click the Show archived checkbox and then Unarchive

Weight override (or "weigh heavy")

Weight override is an optional feature that allows users to price bulk flower based on common weights (1g, 2g, 3.5g, etc.) even when the actual weight is slightly different (also known as "weigh heavy"). If weight override is not enabled, bulk flower is priced based on the actual weight. Contact Dutchie Support to have weight override enabled for your location.

When weight override is enabled, it's important to also set a Dispense weight vs actual weight threshold. This enforces a maximum difference between the actual weight and the weight override to prevent users from weighing excessive amounts or charging an artificially low price.

1. Go to Settings > Location.
2. Scroll down to the Defaults section.
3. In the Dispense weight vs actual weight threshold field, enter an amount greater than 0 and select a unit of measure.
   
4. Optionally, turn on Auto Adjust Weight Override. When enabled, if the weight of the product falls within the dispense weight vs. actual weight threshold, the item's price will be automatically adjusted accordingly.
5. Click Save.

This threshold is not inclusive. For example, if you set the threshold to 0.2g, budtenders can enter an override that is less than 0.2g different from the actual weight, but not 0.2g or more.
