Initial training
- The Metrc New Business Training is available on Metrc. The training is a pre-recorded virtual training that is required to be viewed by every administrator in order to use Metrc.
- Additionally, all recorded trainings are available in Metrc Learn. You will need to register an account to access these trainings, but the platform offers additional modular-based training which can be completed and tracked.
Accessing Metrc and ordering tags
- Once the New Business Training is completed, there will be a pop-up window that will ask the Designated Key Administrator to continue to enter your license number to request credentials from Metrc.
- Once the form is submitted, Metrc Support will verify all the credential and training information and respond within 72 hours with a “Welcome to Metrc” email that provides instructions for the initial login and account setup. Please note the link will expire 24 hours after it is generated. If the link expires, the admin will have to reach out to Metrc Support for a new link.
- Once the industry admin is able to login, they will be able to order Metrc package tags for both adult use and medical plants and packages.

Things to consider
- You must enable the Metrc integration in Dutchie POS to perform certain tasks in this article.
- To best perform the actions in this article, log in to Dutchie POS and Metrc systems in separate tabs or windows.
- Rooms are called Locations in Metrc.
- Unique IDs: Per the CRC, Metrc package IDs can replace the NJ UID requirement. NJ UIDs are no longer required and the barcode can scan to the Metrc package ID. However, please note that you cannot scan both NJ UID barcodes and Metrc package ID barcodes in the Dutchie Register at the same time. Learn how to transition from NJ UIDs to Metrc package IDs.

Notes
- You will always edit the External Category and Sync to Metrc Item fields. You will also need to edit any additional field depending on the External Category you select.
For example: If your External Category is edibles, you need to have an ingredient to build it out in Metrc, therefore, you need to bulk edit the Ingredients field. - External Categories have to be weight based.
- As a best practice, it is advised that you also utilize a naming convention in your Dutchie POS catalog that indicates “medical” or “rec” (or something similar) to differentiate the two types of product in the systems. The naming conventions used in the Dutchie POS catalog will become the Item names in Metrc.
- We recommend cleaning up your Product Catalog as much as possible and deleting items you do not expect to carry in your store initially.
- Remember to physically tag your inventory with the Metrc RFID tag that corresponds to the package ID in Dutchie POS.
