Adult-use purchase limits in Ohio are based on statutory limits, up to a total of 2.5 oz and 15g of concentrate. Previously, adult-use purchase limits were based on Days Supply, but this is no longer the case.
This article provides Ohio operators an overview of how adult-use purchase limits and products should be configured.

Overview
Flower and concentrate limits are tracked separately.
In Dutchie POS, this means adult-use purchase limits are based on a product's Grams per concentration value. Flower equivalency is not applicable.
Because flower equivalency is the system default for enforcing purchase limits, and grams per concentration is only used when flower equivalency is blank, flower equivalency should now be blank for all products. If not:
- Verify grams per concentration for all inventory
- Bulk delete the flower equivalent for all inventory
- Reconfigure adult-use purchase limits
- Hide flower equivalency fields (optional but recommended)
We recommend taking these steps outside of business hours to avoid disruption.
Verify grams per concentration
At the product catalog level, the Grams/concentration field represents the typical amount for the product and is used as the default value for new inventory.
At the inventory package level, the Grams per concentration field represents the exact amount for that specific package. This is the value that is used for purchase limit enforcement. This is generally the same as the catalog-level default, but may vary from package to package.
The DCC has clarified that a product’s intended THC content can be used for purchase limit enforcement, as opposed to package-specific THC content.
This means dispensary operators in Ohio only need to enter grams/concentration values for each product in their Dutchie POS catalog, but do not need to enter grams/concentration values for each package. The catalog-level values will be automatically applied to each package.
Flower products
For all flower packages, the grams per concentration is the packaged weight of the flower.
Non-flower products
When entering the grams per concentration for non-flower packages in Ohio, use the Unit THC Content of the product as it appears in Metrc.
To view the THC content registered to the product, in Metrc, go to the Packages page and select the magnifying glass next to the package tag.
Note the quantity (in milligrams) in the Unit THC Content field.
In Dutchie POS, enter this quantity (in grams) in the Grams per concentration field on the package detail. For example, a Unit THC Content of 455 mg in Metrc should be entered in Dutchie POS as 0.455. You can also enter this value when receiving inventory.
Bulk delete flower equivalencies
This step requires the optional Product Category Flower Equivalent feature, which can only be enabled for your location by Dutchie support. Go to Products > Configure > Categories, select a category, and verify that you can see the Flower equivalent section. If not, contact support to have this feature enabled for your location.
Only after verifying your grams per concentration values, schedule a time outside your business hours to remove all flower equivalencies from your Dutchie POS product catalog and inventory.
- Go to Products > Configure > Categories.
- Select a category.
- With the Flower equivalent field blank, click Apply to this location.
- Repeat for all other cannabis product categories.
Reconfigure adult-use purchase limits
Immediately after deleting your flower equivalencies, before you open for business, update your adult-use purchase limits.
- Go to Settings > Taxes & compliance > Purchase limits.
-
Delete your existing all-category adult-use (Recreational) purchase limit.
- Click Add limit and set up a new adult-use purchase limit for flower:
- Customer type: Recreational
- Categories: Select all flower product categories
- Purchase limit: 70.75 grams
- Limit type: Per Calendar Day
-
Calendar days: 1
This new limit will use the grams per concentration value to calculate limits at the register. Failure to delete flower equivalencies will prevent limits from being calculated correctly.
- Click Save.
- Click Add limit again and set up a new adult-use purchase limit for concentrates:
- Customer type: Recreational
- Categories: Select all processed cannabis product categories
- Purchase limit: 15 grams
- Limit type: Per Calendar Day
-
Calendar days: 1
- Click Save. Your adult-use purchase limits should appear similar to this configuration (your exact categories may vary):
- Go to Products > Configure > Categories to verify that each cannabis product type is assigned to the correct Purchase limit category.
Hide flower equivalency fields
Because flower equivalency are no longer be applicable in Ohio, we recommend also hiding these fields from your Catalog and inventory going forward.
- Go to Products > Configure > Fields.
- In the Catalog section, set the Flower Equivalent field to Hide.
- Do the same in the Package Detail and Receive Inventory sections.
- Click Save.
