Enhanced Consumer Sign Up
A single, streamlined sign-up flow for your online ordering customers
We're updating the sign-up experience on your online ordering menu. Any customer with an incomplete profile — brand-new or existing — will be guided through a single sequence to join your loyalty program and link a bank for Pay by Bank. This isn't limited to the moment they first create an account: it can appear any time they log in from the menu. It never appears when a customer logs in from their cart or at checkout.
Important: This flow only appears when a customer logs in from the menu. It never appears when logging in from the cart or at checkout, so it won't get in the way of completing an order. It has no impact on your in-store experience or your budtenders.
Step 1 — Log in or create an account
No change here — customers create an account or log in the same way they do today. What's new is what happens next: if their profile is incomplete (missing loyalty and/or Pay by Bank), they'll be guided through the steps below. This applies every time they log in from the menu with an incomplete profile — not just the first time they sign up. It does not trigger when a customer logs in from their cart or at checkout.
Step 2 — Join loyalty
- Right after logging in or creating an account, the customer is automatically prompted to join your loyalty program (if they haven't already).
- Checking "agree" opts them in to email/SMS notifications, but they can join loyalty without agreeing to comms.
- Customers can skip this step and continue.
This step only appears if you have Dutchie Loyalty enabled.
Step 3 — Link a bank (Pay by Bank)
- After the loyalty step, the customer is asked to link a bank for faster checkout with Pay by Bank.
- Tapping "Link your bank" starts the same Plaid bank-linking flow customers already use today — they select their bank and log in to complete linking.
- Declining moves them straight to the next step. Either way, their account creation still finishes.
This step only appears if you have Pay by Bank enabled.
Step 4 — Download loyalty pass
- Once the customer makes a decision on Pay by Bank, they can download a loyalty pass to their phone.
- On desktop, this generates a QR code they can scan to save the pass.
This step only appears if the customer opted in to loyalty in Step 2, and only if your dispensary has the mobile app enabled.
What this means for your dispensary
- No change to in-store checkout or your budtenders' workflow.
- This isn't a one-time, sign-up-only prompt. It applies to existing customers with incomplete profiles too, any time they log in from the menu — it never appears when they log in from the cart or at checkout.
- The Loyalty step only shows if you have Dutchie Loyalty active; the Pay by Bank step only shows if you have Pay by Bank active. The loyalty pass step also requires your dispensary to have the mobile app enabled.
- Designed to grow enrollment — surfacing Loyalty and Pay by Bank at login, instead of leaving customers to find them on their own.
- You don't need to do anything to turn this on. If you're eligible, it will roll out to your account automatically as part of a phased launch, and you'll be notified ahead of your rollout date.
Rollout schedule
| Phase | Scope | Date |
|---|---|---|
| Phase 0.5 | Initial pilot group | September 24, 2026 |
| Phase 1 | Expanded cohort | September 28, 2026 |
| Phase 2 / GA | Remaining eligible dispensaries | Rolling — you'll be notified ahead of your date |
Frequently asked questions
Will this change how my customers check out?
No. This flow only appears when a customer logs in from the menu — it never appears when logging in from the cart or at checkout, so it won't slow down or interrupt completing an order.
Can I opt out?
This isn't a self-serve toggle today. If you'd like to opt out after being enabled, contact Support to submit a request.
What if I don't have Loyalty or Pay by Bank enabled?
The related step(s) simply won't show — customers still go through account creation as they do today.
