Troubleshoot errors when adding a user with an existing Dutchie account to Dutchie E-Commerce.
Things to know
- You must have User Management permissions associated with your Dutchie Admin profile to add a user in Dutchie Admin.
- If you would like to set up separate logins for multiple shops, not included in an Enterprise Chain Admin account, separate email addresses must be utilized when creating each individual account.
- These instructions may not apply if you are using social sign in (logging in via your Google or Apple account). You may need to contact Dutchie Support, if you encounter errors.
Email already in use error
Sometimes you will run into issues when adding users to Dutchie E-Commerce Admin. This most typically occurs when:
- A new dispensary employee plans to use an email address that is already tied to an existing Dutchie E-Commerce admin account that was created at a different dispensary.
- A new dispensary employee has already created a Dutchie customer account and would like to associate their Dutchie E-Commerce Admin account with the same email address.
In both cases, you may encounter the following error message: Email already in use
Troubleshoot: previous dispensary employee already has a Dutchie Admin account
If you are trying to add a new dispensary employee as a Dutchie E-Commerce admin, you will receive the error, Email already in use, if the email is still associated with a different dispensary's Dutchie E-Commerce account.
There are several ways to approach this issue:

Ask Dutchie Support to archive the email address from the original dispensary, so it can be used elsewhere: Reach out to Dutchie Support, and provide the name, phone number, email associated with the user profile from the original dispensary. The Dutchie Support team will archive the email address, so it can be used again.
This is a manual process and may take some time, but it is the best long term solution, if you want to reuse the original email address. -
Use a different email address: The user can use a different email address to associate to their Dutchie Admin account at the new dispensary.
You can do this without the help of Dutchie Support, but you will need to keep track of which email addresses you use for each account. -
Amend the original email address by adding +admin (Gmail and Yahoo): You can update the user's account with a version of their original email address with +admin added to it. To do this, follow these steps.
- Navigate to Dutchie Admin > Customers, and search for the user account by email.
- Update that user account’s email address to include +admin
For example, test@gmail.com would become test+admin@gmail.com - Click the Update Customer button to save your changes.
- Navigate back to Settings > Users.
- Click the Add A User button to use the original email with a new Dutchie Admin account.
For example, test@gmail.com
If this user wants to log in to Dutchie.com, they will need to use the email address entered with the +admin text, to login.
Troubleshoot: Dispensary employee already has a customer account
If you are trying to add a new dispensary employee as a Dutchie E-Commerce admin, you will receive the error, Email already in use, if the email is associated with a Dutchie customer account.
There are several ways to approach this issue:

Use a different email address: The user can use a different email address to associate to their Dutchie Admin account at the new dispensary.
