This article outlines how Loyalty & Marketing Pro subscribers can manage their employees' ability to accrue and redeem points in Dutchie loyalty programs, including ways to incentivize employees with loyalty points.
Before you begin
If you haven't already done so, create a customer group for your employees and assign all employee customer profiles to this group.

Restrict employee participation
If you don't allow employees to be loyalty members, you can prevent them from earning points, remove any existing points, and opt them out of membership if they're already opted in.
Prevent point accrual
To keep employees from earning loyalty points, regardless of their opt-in status or your loyalty program settings:
- Go to Marketing > Discounts.
- On the Configure step, select Application method: Automatic.
- On the Details step, assign your employee Customer group.
- On the Rewards step, select Discount method: Loyalty multiplier.
- Enter a Multiplier value of 0.
- Review the Summary and Save.
This "0x" loyalty multiplier will automatically apply to any transaction where an employee's customer profile is selected and will prevent point accrual. All other customers will continue to accrue points based on your loyalty program settings.
Remove existing points
If any employees have existing point balances, adjust each employee's loyalty points down to 0.
If you have many employees with existing point balances, you can alternatively contact Dutchie Support and request a bulk update of employee point balances. Make sure your employee customer group(s) are up-to-date.
Manage opt-in status
If an employee previously opted into your loyalty program, you can change their opt-in status so they are no longer a loyalty member:
- Go to Customers.
- Select the employee's customer profile.
- Scroll to the Loyalty & Marketing section.
- Change Opted in to loyalty to No.
- Click Save.
Note that employees with Register access can still opt themselves or other employees back into your loyalty program, and any employee or customer can opt in via Dutchie E-Commerce. For this reason, we recommend also setting up a 0x loyalty multiplier as shown above to prevent point accrual.
Allow former employees to earn points
Remove former employees' profiles from your employee customer group(s) to allow them to accrue points and participate in your loyalty program.
If your loyalty program is configured to require opt-in, they will also need to opt in before they can accrue points.
Incentivize and reward employees with loyalty points
If you do allow employees to be loyalty members, you can use the following features to encourage their participation and reward certain purchases.
Grant higher tier status to employees
If your loyalty program is tiered, you can automatically assign employees to a higher tier so they earn more points.
- Go to Customers > Customer groups.
- Select your employee customer group.
- Select a Default Tier.
- Click Save.
Create a loyalty point multiplier for employees
Automatically grant your employees extra points, either on all purchases or purchases that meet certain criteria, by creating a loyalty point multiplier.
- Go to Marketing > Discounts.
- On the Configure step, select Application method: Automatic.
- On the Details step, assign your employee Customer group. Note that a loyalty point multiplier with a customer group condition will not be reflected on Dutchie E-Commerce but will be applied at the Register as long as the employee's customer profile is assigned to the correct customer group and to the transaction
- Apply any other conditions or restrictions for the multiplier. For example, you could add a requirement that employees only earn extra points on in-house brands or other specific products.
- On the Rewards step, select Discount method: Loyalty multiplier.
- Enter a Multiplier value. For example, enter 2 to award double points on qualifying purchases.
- Skip the Online details step, as this customer group-specific multiplier won't appear online.
- Review the Summary and Save.
You can also create discounts specifically for employees. Set up a discount with whatever criteria you'd like, and assign your employee Customer group on the Details step. Note that group-specific discounts will not appear on Dutchie E-Commerce but will be applied at the Register as long as the employee's customer profile is assigned to the correct customer group and to the transaction.
Create exclusive collections for employees
Exclusive collections in Dutchie E-Commerce allow you to limit the visibility of certain products to specific customer segments. When a collection is marked as exclusive, only users in the designated segment(s) who are logged into their accounts can view the collection, see the associated products in search results, or purchase those items.
To create an employees-only collection:
Go to Customers > Segments.
Configure a new segment with the conditions: Attributes of someone > Customer group > is in > select your employee customer group.
Click Save.
Configure an exclusive collection that applies to the employee segment you just created. You can also make the collection available to additional customer segments if desired.
