Set up a Dutchie POS loyalty program

Set up a loyalty program to encourage repeat customers and increase average order value by awarding points for each dollar spent. Customers can then redeem points for discounts on future purchases.

Things to know

  • This article applies only to Dutchie POS's built-in loyalty features. For information about third-party loyalty platforms that Dutchie POS integrates with, see Dutchie POS + Springbig integration guide or Alpine IQ integration guide for Dutchie POS.
  • You cannot change the order in which loyalty discounts are displayed in Dutchie POS. The most recently created loyalty discount will appear at the top of the list. The oldest will appear at the bottom.
  • The required user permissions for setting up a loyalty program are:
    • View Loyalty Accrual allows users to view your loyalty program configuration.
    • Edit Loyalty Accrual allows users to change your loyalty program configuration.
    • Edit Adjust Loyalty Reasons allows users to configure reasons for manually adjusting loyalty points. These reasons are tracked in the Loyalty Adjustments Report.

Loyalty settings

  1. Go to Marketing > Loyalty. Settings is pre-selected.
  2. Enter an Accrual rate.
    • The amount a customer spends before tax is multiplied by the Accrual Rate to determine their loyalty points.
    • Fractions of points are included. For example, if your Accrual Rate is 1 and a customer spends $30.95 before tax, they earn 30.95 loyalty points.
    • Customers begin accruing loyalty points as soon as you enter and save an accrual rate, so be sure you’re ready to launch your loyalty program before taking this step!
  3. Optional: Enter a number of New customer default loyalty points.
  4. Click Save.

To disable loyalty point accrual, delete the Accrual rate and click Save.

Additional options

The Settings tab also includes these options:

Option Description Notes
Apply loyalty as a discount Allows cashiers to apply loyalty toward the pre-tax subtotal only. If turned off, cashiers can apply loyalty to tax as well. This setting has no effect unless Apply Loyalty as Cash Value is turned on.
Apply points automatically to cart Cash value of available points is automatically applied and spread evenly across all items in the cart. Can’t be overridden.
Apply loyalty as cash value Adds an option at checkout to directly redeem loyalty points for their cash value spread evenly across all items in the cart instead of redeeming for a preconfigured manual discount.

To delete a loyalty adjustment reason, click the X next to it.
