Design changes and new features are coming to loyalty program setup!
Use the tabs below to switch between the current design and a preview of what's coming soon.
Loyalty settings
- Go to Marketing > Loyalty. Settings is pre-selected.
- Enter an Accrual rate.
- The amount a customer spends before tax is multiplied by the Accrual Rate to determine their loyalty points.
- Fractions of points are included. For example, if your Accrual Rate is 1 and a customer spends $30.95 before tax, they earn 30.95 loyalty points.
- Customers begin accruing loyalty points as soon as you enter and save an accrual rate, so be sure you’re ready to launch your loyalty program before taking this step!
- Optional: Enter a number of New customer default loyalty points.
- Click Save.
To disable loyalty point accrual, delete the Accrual rate and click Save.
Additional options
The Settings tab also includes these options:
Option | Description | Notes |
Apply loyalty as a discount | Allows cashiers to apply loyalty toward the pre-tax subtotal only. If turned off, cashiers can apply loyalty to tax as well. | This setting has no effect unless Apply Loyalty as Cash Value is turned on. |
Apply points automatically to cart | Cash value of available points is automatically applied and spread evenly across all items in the cart. | Can’t be overridden. |
Apply loyalty as cash value | Adds an option at checkout to directly redeem loyalty points for their cash value spread evenly across all items in the cart instead of redeeming for a preconfigured manual discount. |
General
- Go to Marketing > Loyalty.
- Enter your Accrual rate, or the number of points customers will earn for every dollar they spend before tax. This includes cents and fractions of points. For example, if your accrual rate is 1, and a customer's total is $30.95 before tax, they earn 30.95 loyalty points.
- Enter an optional Initial reward for sign-ups. This is the number of points loyalty members will start with automatically.
- Select your Enrollment Type:
- With Automatic, all customers are automatically considered loyalty members and will start earning points as soon as you enter and save an accrual rate.
- With Opt-in, each customer must opt in before they can start earning points. See the Customer opt-in section below for more information.
- Note that the opt-in feature is only available with our Loyalty + Marketing suite.
- Enter an optional Online description. This will appear in Dutchie Ecommerce (if integrated) when consumers view the Loyalty section of their Dutchie Ecommerce My Account page.
- Click Save.
To disable loyalty point accrual, delete the Accrual rate and click Save.
Redemptions
- Select whether to Apply points to cart. This allows customers to apply any number of loyalty points directly to their cart total as a payment method.
- Select your Redemption method.
- Apply loyalty as discounts means customers can only redeem points toward pre-configured loyalty discounts with a point value attached, and cannot apply points directly to their cart total.
- Apply loyalty as a payment method (pre-tax) means loyalty points are evenly distributed across all items in the cart before checkout, and all calculations are pre-tax.
- Apply loyalty as a payment method (post-tax) means loyalty points are applied to the transaction total after tax is applied.
- Enter an optional Expiration, which is the number of days since a customer's last transaction when their points should expire.
- A blank value in this field means points will never expire.
- This option is only available to locations that have upgraded to our Loyalty + Marketing suite.
Tiers
Tiers allow you to set different accrual rates for customers based on their spending or point earnings. Loyalty tiers are only available to locations that have upgraded to our Loyalty + Marketing suite.
- Select Add tiers - Yes.
- Define tier basis as either Total spend or Points earned.
- In Tier assessment, select either:
- Tiers last through the next calendar year: Customers' tier status will be based on spending or points earned over the last 12 months.
- All tiers reset annually on January 1st: Customers' tier status will be based on spending or points earned since January 1 of this year and will reset next January 1.
- Click Add new tier and configure a tier Name, Accrual rate, Spending threshold, and Badge color, which will appear in the Register.
- Click Create. You can create up to 4 tiers.
- When you're finished, click Save.
Customer opt-in
Customer opt-in is only available to locations that have upgraded to our Loyalty + Marketing suite.
If your Enrollment Type is set to Opt-in, this will temporarily hide existing customers' loyalty points (if you previously used automatic enrollment) and prevent further point accrual and redemption for each customer until they opt in.
There are two ways for customers to opt in:
In store
Dispensary employees can opt a customer in by selecting Register for Loyalty in the cart:
This opens a Loyalty Registration window with a disclaimer that employees should show or read to the customer:
By clicking sign up, you are agreeing to share your information, including information from your state issued ID to receive marketing and loyalty messages from this facility. You may opt out at anytime of marketing messages via unsubscribe links in email and by replying STOP to text messages.
Once opted in, the customer will begin or resume accruing points, and the Register for Loyalty button will no longer appear in their cart.
On Dutchie Ecommerce
New and existing customers will be prompted to opt in to your loyalty program when they log in or navigate to the My Account page.
Encourage new or existing customers who haven't placed an online order to create a Dutchie Ecommerce account by linking their Apple or Google account, which can streamline the sign-up process and ensure you're capturing accurate customer contact info.
