Smart tags automatically apply to packages that match customizable criteria such as potency, expiration date, available quantity, and more, saving you time and reducing manual entry errors. Smart tags can be used in all the same ways as regular inventory tags, such as for discounting specific packages or creating E-Commerce Collections.

Smart tags apply only to packages, but can be based on package-level and product-level attributes.
For example, you could create a smart tag that applies to your "Bulk Flower" product category and "top shelf" pricing tier (both product-level attributes) and expiration dates in the next 90 days (a package-level attribute). This tag would apply to packages that expire in the next 90 days that are also associated products assigned to the "Bulk Flower" category and "top shelf" pricing tier, but would not apply to the products themselves.
Smart tags are not surfaced on product-level objects in the Dutchie Public API. When working with the API, query at the package level to access smart tag data.
Smart tags are visible and applicable across all locations in your LSP.
Create a smart tag
- Go to Products > Tags.
- On the Smart tags tab, click Create smart tag.
- Select the criteria for your smart tag. Select AND/OR and click Add rule to select additional criteria. Packages that meet your criteria are displayed on the right.
- Click Save.

You can create smart tags based on any combination of the following attributes.

Attributes of product (catalog)
When you use product-level attributes, smart tags are applied to the packages associated with the qualifying products, not the products themselves.

Refresh smart tags
Smart tags automatically refresh once daily. You can also click Refresh all tags to instantly refresh your smart tags.
How to use smart tags
Once you've configured smart tags, you can:
- Filter and sort your Products or Inventory lists based on smart tags or standard tags.
- Create discounts that apply only to products or packages with certain smart tags.
- Create collections or custom categories based on smart tags in Dutchie E-Commerce.
